Welcome home.
More than 95 percent of people who go to prison eventually return home to their communities, often to an uncertain future. Life Outside works to reduce barriers to that transition by raising awareness, preparing communities, and amplifying the lived experience of those coming home.
Around 2.3 million people in the United States are currently living life behind bars.
Every year, more than 600,000 formerly incarcerated citizens leave prison and return home to their communities.
Another almost 9 million will leave jail and return home to an uncertain future.
We need your support to build communities that are committed to welcoming returning citizens back.
